Williams, Way & Rowe Welcomes Partners at Open House
By Kathy Gray Communications

Williams, Way & Rowe, LLC, will honor CPAs Dan Williams and Arlene Way and welcome new partners at an open house on Friday, Oct. 29.

The firm provides tax, accounting, business advisory and personal wealth management services for families and businesses throughout the Mid-Columbia, and beyond.

The event will be held at the Williams, Way & Rowe office at 320 E. Fourth St. in The Dalles from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

The event offers an opportunity for the public to meet Sidney T. Rowe, CPA, MBA, and David V. Deming, CPA, MBA/MT. Both joined the firm as partners this year and will assume many of the practice responsibilities previously performed by Williams and Way as they transition toward retirement.

“We’ve been thinking about this for a long time,” Way said, “but it takes time to find the right replacement.”

"Few qualified candidates were interested after they learned it was east of the mountains," Williams added.

“That was one of the advantages of the opportunity,” Rowe said.

Rowe joined the firm as a partner in January of this year. In addition to traditional tax and accounting skills, he brings a new dimension to public accounting in the Mid-Columbia area with extensive experience in financial planning, wealth management and general business consulting. His experience at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, and other firms will allow Williams, Way & Rowe to offer clients new services and opportunities that were not previously available.

He has enjoyed becoming part of the local community. He spent the last five years traveling the country, working on behalf of some of the world’s largest companies.

“I was tired of the Big 4 culture and was seeking something like The Dalles,” Rowe said.

He is looking forward to working and living in a community similar to the towns where he grew up, working on potato farms near Boise, Idaho.

“I’m just an Idaho farm boy who got to play in the big leagues for a while,” he said.

In August, Deming became the firm’s newest partner. He has extensive experience in individual and business taxation, has earned a master’s degree in Tax Law, and is a frequent community speaker on taxation issues. Like Rowe, he also spent time at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, and brings experience in traditional accounting, financial planning, wealth management and general business consulting.

Deming grew up in Hillsboro, before the advent of high-tech, picking berries and corn during his summers. He, too, is looking forward to providing personal service to local families and businesses.

“There’s a lot to be said for being able to work with small to medium-sized businesses,” Deming said. “The sense of accomplishment, the sense of satisfaction, is completely different. The things you can do directly impact families and future generations.”

Williams and Way will be gradually moving toward retirement, but will still be in the area to help during the transition. However, they plan to spend less time in the office and more time traveling, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

“At the end of the day, our goal is that everyone feels completely comfortable,” said Rowe. “Dan and Arlene are still here. They’ll be spending less time in the office, but they’re still available.”
