WineAmerica Elects New Washington Representative to Board of Directors

Craig Leuthold of Maryhill Winery to Serve Three Year Term

GOLDENDALE, Wash. – Craig Leuthold, owner of the Maryhill Winery in Goldendale, Washington, was recently elected to serve as one of two Washington representatives on the Board of Directors for WineAmerica.  WineAmerica is a non-profit trade association founded in 1978 that aims to foster general communications within the developing wine industry, providing a unified voice for government relations issues, and affordable insurance for its members.

“I am honored to be able to serve as a board member for WineAmerica and will actively represent the interests of fellow Washington wineries and wineries across the nation,” says Craig Leuthold.  Board members are elected by the winery membership to three-year terms.  Three quarters of the Board of Directors are elected to represent nine regions.  Two meetings of the board are held each year: an annual meeting, held each spring in Washington D.C., with a legislative issues focus and an annual planning retreat, held each fall, in different wine producing regions of the country.

With hands on experience and an insatiable desire to learn everything possible about the wine industry, Craig will be an asset to the WineAmerica Board of Directors.  Prior to founding Maryhill, Craig served for five years as President of the North Idaho Enological Society and co-owned Cascade Cliffs Winery from 1997-2005.  Then on October 11th, 2000, realizing the potential in the Washington wine industry, Craig and his wife Vicki broke ground on a scenic plot of land in Washington’s Columbia River Gorge.  Celebrating its Fifth Anniversary this spring, Maryhill has a 40,000 yearly case production and Maryhill wines are currently distributed in 14 states.
