Camas Farmer's Market Starts May 17th

Camas, Wash., May 6th, 2008—Camas Downtown Vision Coalition (DVC) announces the start of the Camas Farmer’s Market. The market’s first day will be Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is scheduled to run each Saturday through Oct. 4 in Downtown Camas on 5th Avenue, between Birch and Cedar streets.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Camas mayor Paul Dennis, market volunteers, and the community will be at 9 a.m. Kids’ chalk art activities will be coordinated by local artist Kim Poloson. A chef demonstration is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and live music featuring local musician Matt Brown from the band Ruby Hill is scheduled from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Camas Farmer’s Market aims to strengthen connections between local farmers and the community. Local farms and vendors will include: 6 Acre Farm, Bruns Bakery, Camas Roots, Chor Vang Flowers, Draper Girls Farm, Hill Tree Farms, Nature’s choice, Nutz R Us, Purple Rain Vineyard, Scented Acres, Silver Star Vinery, Twin Brooks Herb Farm, and more. Organic/pastured meats also can be ordered. Vendors will offer local and organic produce, plants, fresh flowers and prepared foods.

“Fresh produce and flowers, local food, music, chefs! The market is the result of a joyful community effort and vision to create a weekly gathering space for all of us in Camas. I look forward to opening day," said Camas Farmer’s Market Executive Director Carren Walker.

Farmer Paula Korell of 6 Acre Farm had the following to say: "American families are seeking ways of becoming more sustainable within their own community. Sustainability starts by building a seamless relationship with your local farmer. 6 Acre Farm is grateful for all the support within the city and community and is looking forward to the Camas Farmer's Market on May 17th!"

16th annual Brews, Blues, and BBQ in Stevenson, Washington

bbq Mark your calendars now because summer will be here before you know it!  The 16th Annual Brews, Blues and BBQs lies just around the corner on Saturday, June 27, 2009.  The traditional rollicking opening of the summer season in Stevenson, this blast draws fans from across the Northwest to Teo Park right on the Columbia River.  With views of the water, the mountains rising abruptly across the river, the setting becomes as much a part of the day as the music, the beer and the food. 

This year’s event will expand later in the evening with the gates open at noon and live music continuing until 10:00 p.m.  The musical talent includes Tess Barr Blues Band, The Strangetones and Too Slim and the Traildraggers.  In between each band, the mic will be open for local musicians.
