On Tuesday, February 12th the Gorge Commission will hold a hearing to take public testimony on the Broughton Landing Project. It will be held at the Hood River Best Western Inn, Columbia Room, 1108 East Marina Way, Hood RIver, Oregon. The hearing is currently scheduled to begin at 9:30 am. Visit the Gorge Commission website for more information.

The Columbia River Gorge Commission is considering a proposed amendment to the Management Plan for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The proposed amendment would create new policies and guidelines to allow conversion of an existing industrial complex to a recreation resort as a new review use in the Commercial Recreation land use designation.

The Executive Director has produced a report analyzing the proposal and making a recommendation. The Columbia River Gorge Commission is scheduled to hold a hearing on the proposed amendment for their February 12, 2008 in Hood RIver, OR.

Hood River Receives $500,000 in Federal EDA Investment Funds
On April 21 U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Sandy K. Baruah and U.S. Representative Greg Walden presented a $500,000 Economic Development Administration (EDA) investment check to the City of
Hood River and the Port of Hood River, Oregon.

The investment will help build roadway improvements to the Port of Hood River that will improve the flow of commercial traffic, allowing existing businesses to expand and attract new businesses and jobs to the region. The investment is expected to create 62 jobs and spur $13.5 million in private investment. EDA is a parent agency for MCEDD.
