16th ANNUAL BREWS BLUES & BBQS IN STEVENSON, WASHINGTON

Mark your calendars now because summer will be here before you know it!  The 16th Annual Brews, Blues and BBQs lies just around the corner on Saturday, June 27, 2009.  The traditional rollicking opening of the summer season in Stevenson, this blast draws fans from across the Northwest to Teo Park right on the Columbia River.  With views of the water, the mountains rising abruptly across the river, the setting becomes as much a part of the day as the music, the beer and the food.

This year’s event will expand later in the evening with the gates open at noon and live music continuing until 10:00 p.m.  The musical talent includes Tess Barr Blues Band, The Strangetones and Too Slim and the Traildraggers.  In between each band, the mic will be open for local musicians.

Following the lead of Stevenson’s own award winning Walking Man Brewing, an interesting assemblage of Northwest craft brewers agreed to set up shop for the day.  The short list includes Double Mountain, Bend Brewing, Amnesia Brewing, Full Sail Ale and Roots.  Over 17 brewers are anticipated.

In addition, seven Gorge vineyards including Wind River Cellars and Erin Glenn will pour their varietals.

Under the food tents, the BBQ factor will run from sloppy ribs dripping in sauce to the more traditional brisket and pork sandwiches served with a flair by such purveyors as Mr. Oink’s, Outlaw Barbecue, Whiskey Flats Gourmet Foods and several more.  There will also be chicken bento and some delicious desserts plus Italian sodas.

To keep the kids happy while the adults rock to the music, there will be a face painter, a balloon artist, hotdogs, popcorn and other little people activities.

For the third year, an addition to Brews Blues and BBQs will be a wide variety of arts and craft booths.  Local and not-so-local artists will set up in the park adjacent to Teo Park to show and sell.  Brews Blues & BBQs is sponsored by the Stevenson Business Association.

Join us.  The 16th Annual Brews Blues & BBQs.  On the Columbia River at Teo Park in downtown Stevenson, Washington in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge, just 45 minutes east of Portland/Vancouver.  Saturday, June 27, 2009, 12:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.  Admission is $10.00 per person and includes a beer mug or wine glass.  Children 12 years and under are free.  Scrip tickets are available for purchase at $1.00 each for tasting or a full mug.  Souvenir glasses are also for sale with the festival logo for $5.00 each.  New in 2009, purchase advance tickets on-line and eliminate waiting in line at the event.  www.cityofstevenson.com/brews, 800-989-9178.
