Where can you find a business that offers floor covering, espresso bar, and in the summer, fresh cherries?

At Gary Denney Floor Covering and Carpet Warehouse, of course. Located at 816 West 6th Street in The Dalles, Ore., Denney has a great location that offers ample parking and customer friendly atmosphere.

Shoppers are met with warm smiles and friendly greetings from the proprietors Gary and Wendy Denney. After which they are free to stroll through the maze of carpet, vinyl, laminate, hardwood and ceramic tile floor coverings that are displayed in their entirety, or as samples throughout the store, either on the walls or beneath the feet. The trail of these samples leads from room to room in what proves to be a much larger establishment than its first impression.

Besides the usual remnants, the in-house warehouse holds over forty rolls each of carpet and vinyl floor coverings from Armstrong to Witex brands, as well as cleaning, maintenance and Do-it-yourself supplies, with new products delivered regularly. The quality carpets are displayed in all colors, fabrics, textures and styles, from the more traditional braided rug to the most exotic bamboo, that can be placed indoors or out on the grandest veranda.

The Denneys believe in customer service and will not only help the do-it-yourselfer with tips and advice, but also loan them the tools to get the job done right. Sample carpets may also be borrowed for a visual confirmation of ones personal interior décor, special pricing of in stock products as well as available financing. If one's taste runs beyond their huge selection, Gary or Wendy will help locate that heart's desire.

Adding Sunday to the work schedule has made it more convenient for working customers, with the availability of shopping in a more leisurely manner. Free estimates are still available for residential, commercial or remodeling, and installation is guaranteed with their staff of certified special trained installers.

The family has owned and run the business for the past three decades, with the help of their seven employees. Gary is a "home grown" boy of The Dalles, while wife Wendy says she feels like a native herself for these past 30 years. Along with the floor covering business, the Denneys also own an orchard, just south of The Dalles, that supplies the cherries they offer in the summer. Of their three sons, Tyler is a full time employee while the twins Marcus and Jordan attend the University of Oregon and help out when college breaks permit.
