The Story of My Business: Badger Creek Computer Services - Upd: July, 2004

Louis Monkiewicz, a resident of The Dalles, opened Badger Creek Computer
Services in February, 2001. Badger Creek offers a wide range of services
for the beleaguered computer user, including PC repair, troubleshooting,
upgrades, software installation and consulting.

Lou garnered much of his computer background while serving as a Secure
Telecommunications System Technician in the United States Air Force.
After retiring from a twenty-year military career he continued working
in the telecommunications field as a volunteer with Wasco County
Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on a part time basis. Duties there
involved installing, maintaining and upgrading the radio communications
and computer systems at the EOC.

When an opportunity arose to work for a local Internet service provider,
Lou jumped at the chance to expand his areas of expertise. His
responsibilities there included hardware maintenance, software
installation, insuring data integrity and user training. These duties
provided a challenging environment where the customer's legacy software
and hardware sometimes clashed with the latest technology.

A realignment of responsibilities at the ISP led to a decision to start
a separate computer service business. Not much of a change in areas of
responsibility, nor even a change of venue, but instead a more flexible
arrangement where a wider range of customers could be served.
